CNC and other machines
CNC machines and my experience. Now I am building my own.
Mori Seiki SL25 with a Fanuc 10T control
1998-1-1
This Mori Seiki could go faster than I could take out the swarf. Even if I was being unreasonable it still did it. Very rarely did it fail me - and when it did - I was being an idiot. It did pull a huge current tho. When we first got it the electric company was very unhappy cause it sent current back to the grid under hard braking. Blew a transformer up down the road.
AlzMetal Drill
1998-1-1
This Thing could bore a hole in the universe. Continously variable reeves drive. I don't know where we got that thing from but it was old - probably stole it from the Nazi's after WW2 but it was tough as hobbs. I had to put like 5 metre long parts upon it and hold then up with a forklift. I must have been asleep one night as it started to tip over with the fork slowly letting down.
90mm hole through Bismuth 80
1998-1-1
There is a 54mm hole drilled and opened up to 90mm with a boring head in Bismuth 80 - which is seriously hard stuff. I think I used a 35mm drill then progressing up to 54mm drill. The boring head was used from here. It was the jib of a a very big Lampson crawler crane.
